these are times, when you truly want to know where and how your money is doing if you are invested on the stock market, have bonds or other interests going on. it is a scary time because of just how and when or what shall impact the ever changing situation. not a good time and with bigger and stronger banks buying up everybody else the middleman again is being eating and gobbled up by Big Brother. how long will this last? what are the long term ramifications? who knows. everyday in some form or capacity you just never know. smart choices involve eliminating credit card debits, not buying any and everything and staying within your means. easier said than done, but if focused and having matters in place it can be done. now going to the bank for a loan,etc... isn't gonna be any easier,but was it ever? having someone to consult you on money matters means way more now than ever.spend wisely and not for anything beyond your means.

Sunday church

it feels so good to come to church and just have all the warmth and spirituality touch the soul. monday-saturday is it's own groove and beat but Sunday is a day to pray and to reflect. so many times in the past either walking or just going by a church and i was scared in my own way of going there, but not now. i know that it is a place to come together.not saying it's for everyone and that all the human flaws and shortcomings will be healed in a day, but for myself at this stage and time in my life it is very crucial that i feel that joy and purity of a place to pray and allow my heart and soul to fully heal. going to church with family is a breath of fresh air and it opens my mind and i don't feel anything weighing me down. i needed the spirit today and i felt it.

that is the big question over the weekend out of Obama and Mccain. did it change or change your opinion about them in any shape or form? Politics and what is happening in the country right now has everybody glued in and on what is going on. seems like every election gets bigger and bigger in hype but where is the Meat? well this year it is gonna be a Dog fight til the end. all the debates and the one Vice President Debate are gonna count and speak to not only the now but also the Future. watching the critics speak and debate amongest themselves. watching Mccain attack and hearing and watching Obama stay cool through it all. last night drew alot of folks in and i expect that to continue. the debates are the hottest ticket in the land. get your popcorn and prepare to make a choice for the same or change.

despite 700 billion dollar bailout debate is on

despite the mess that is Wallstreet with 700 billion dollars that is wasting away and effecting lives everywhere,etc... the debate will go on between Barack Obama and John Mccain. the people want it overall and it is gonna be interesting at what is said and how it is addressed. with this problem and everything else going on the United States and throughout the World it will be interesting how subjects are worded and put into context. i will be watching it and just seeing how the topics and answers play themselves out. it won't be long now and the battle for the White House is very close and could swing either way depending on the subject matter of what is most important to a potential voter. stay tunned for that. there hasn't been a mess like what is going on now and how it will all play itself out will be quite interesting in the coming days, months and years.

David Blane another hype show

yeah like alot of folks over the years I will be watching David Blane, but after last night i might have to start moonwalking from dude. he was hanging upside down for 60 hours over 3 days in New York City,but he did come down for breaks to do his buiness and also take pills or something. he is trying to accomplish all of these feats, but his card tricks for me are his best act bar none. i have always enjoyed Magicians and been a fan of it, but this is a bit much with the same ole same hype machine and then what? the Hype is bigger than the actual finale. you can get really involved in the whole process and then like the table cloth being pulled from up under you it's over. but something tells me he will pull another stunt and ABC or some network will be right there again awating to see what he does next, but while I dig his talent, i might just make the tv set disappear and click it off, now that is a trick which can truly go away and no hype there.

700 million dollar bailout plan

good gosh a mighty!! hearing the President talking about this bailout and the money happenings on wallstreet,etc... truly threw a curveball my way this morning. how did this happen and what is next? hearing the President say that homeowners, employment, college education and other important things in Society that shape and make who we are as a people could have a impact,etc... is a Scary situation that speaks of Recession, Depression and a time period of 70-80 years back. how will these latest events shape and effect the economic structure and spending in America for the future? President Bush has called both Presidential canidates Barack Obama and John Mccain to the White House for a meeting. we already have high gas prices, a never ending war,poverty,etc.. and now this. what does this say about leadership and the future? and yet we always seem to overcome but what next?

Cloris Leachman is tripping on Dancing with Stars

ok first, when is the last time Cloris Leachman did anything that counted? second of all why is she acting a fool on Dancing with the Stars? she ain't gonna Win and has limited to no skills. yeah I know she has won a Oscar and looks quite well at being in her 80's, but why act like you done had one too many drinks and parade around like that on national tv? i wonder if the executives of the show will keep her around for ratings though they know she ain't got no real steps in her game? if her feet moved like those bombs coming out of her mouth then she would be unstoppable. now in her defense, she says what alot of folks say or think when they don't win on award shows,etc... in everyday enviroments, but you gotta know your audience and how to go about saying this or that. she has gotten people's attention with this. Dancing with Stars this season so far looks kinda flat, but hopefully that will change, if not we got memorable lines to remember that those loose lips sank the dancing ships.

the emmy's went weak

talk about a show that needs to just moonwalk away and for good? who cares about the Emmys any more? talk about a show that no longer counts and has no current place with what is happening now? each passing year fewer and fewer people even bother to watch it and also it is mainly watched to see who wore what. it's not even about winning or losing. Hoyllwood has too award shows and not many that people want to watch as such anymore. there was a time when before Cable and other entertainment outlets that a show such as the emmys carried some weight with viewers, but that was a long time ago and I feel it will happen with the Oscars and Grammys as well. so much Politics in these award shows and so much red tape and all it does is stick to a formula and nothing good comes out of it. also the days of a actual show have been replaced with Reality Tv and other cheaper knockoff brands to sell on the viewing consumer. a whole different day.

The end of MTV's TRL

the end of one of MTV's longest running shows is coming in a couple of months. TRL which spawned the careers of Britney SPears, backstreet boys, N-Synch and former Host Carson Daily is now coming to a close. MTV has basically gone Reality Central as is.TRL had it's hey day and peak back in 1999. over the years music acts, film makers, actors, acteress's,etc... have all paid a visit to the set to promote whatever Project they were pushing at the time. what will MTV do to fill that void and do they even wanna bother doing it? music has become a by Product on the network that made Video a form of a lifestyle as a channel. i've seen the show over the years and there have been decent performances and whatnot and then i watched the show become routine.TRL was viewed by some as the American Bandstand for it's era and time.

Yankee Stadium is coming to a close

on sunday night the New York Yankees play there last game at the house that Ruth Built. sad ending to a historic ballpark. i have been a Yankees fan from the time i was a kid and still am. this year we ain't gonna make the post season but this year is a reminder of our dominance. Derek Jeter has the most hits in Yankee Stadium history a mark that will never be broken and it couldn't have happen to a better Captain of a team. so many great moments in the Yankees Historic run and dominance in that ball park through the years. through the years with the various players and trends Yankee Stadium always was a special place to play and be a part of. the New Stadium is outta sight and will have it's own memorys but lets pay respect to Yankee Stadium through the years.

Gas Prices ain't no joke

going by the service station yesterday and seeing those Prices and my mouth nearly hit the floor in horror. and back down in Texas with the recent storm it put a hurting on Gas Prices all along the strip. it is scary when Prices threaten to go in the 5 dollar range. I just have to roll my eyes and shake my head. going to the service station in years and times past has somewhat been taken for granted but not now currently. we need all the fuel we can get. however there is bike riding, bus riding and car pooling,etc... or the good ole walking down the street. i wonder when things will somewhat even up again? a full tank now don't mean what it meant a few years back. lets hope this matter makes it better for all people who need transportation.

it's been fashionable for quite some time and why i don't even know why. sagging pants was a trend that started in Prisons and lets say it didn't need to come out to the mass population to me.i feel that certain fashions really are some things I can't relate to. i never saw the appeal of Sagging pants on anybody. to me it represents something that doesn't look cool. too much business is put out there for the eye to see and there are things that are better left up to the imagination in the big picture. but it seems to be a fashion trend that won't ever go away. but i wonder if some of the same folks who sag now will be doing it in there 50's,60's,70's,etc... by choice? what is happening today becomes real old to you tommorow, but some clothe wearers of sagging pants might beg to differ with me on that.meanwhile I just tighten up my belt.

like any piece of wording and creativity it is so interesting, when you can hear bits and pieces of your life being said right before your eyes. it is so funny and mind blowing that on a journey, how it can be a minister, a painter, a truck driver, a single parent,etc... that can offer words that are the soundtrack of what you are going through. not a song alone but mere conversation, tones and words that are a beat, hook and Groove for the soul. it is a human power that takes your mind and heart beyond where you are at. so many times frustration and doubt creep in, and yet there is a Victory and a Winning circle that awaits you. often when people talk about the soundtracks or soundtrack of there lives it is about song, songs or a album that struck that chord be it in childhood, adulthood or a special moment, but what is the aftermath of that soundtrack when some of those words become a reality in a whole different context? what is the next phase?

answering other People's phones

being at my Aunt and Uncle's crib I'm learning how to adjust to many things

in particular how the phone is answered and what is stated. i learn the formal

acknowledgement and what it feels like when i do it. my grandmother who lives

in Houston Texas when she is answering her Phone answers it with the full phone

number which always tripped me out, but bless her heart not alot of Haters who have

harassed or mocked her style. i always listen to how one answers and what they say

off the first moment they pick up the phone. just the way the phone is being held speaks

volumes to my eyes and ears. details to so many things and everything in between.

i make that mental note and document it. the phone is approached so different today

with everybody having caller id and the way you proceed to take a call. always

a new listen to learn and the phone is something of a teacher.

USC smashed Ohio State yesterday

college football's big game ended the way alot of people thought it might and that was with the top ranked Trojans smashing up on the Buckeyes. USc won 35-3 in california yesterday and kept themselves looking as the best team going on College football right now. elsewhere my Michigan Woolverines got smeared by Notre Dame. it was a painful lose. college football is 3 weeks old and some games are real close. right now you can already tell who might have a chance at a national Championship. College Football is Fun until the BCS comes into view and the many bowl games, etc... but it is always worth the hype to see who is battling it out for being the best week to week. as fall approaches there is nothing like Saturday College Football and then Sunday NFL Football and monday Night Football,etc... you get the picture.

feeling sleepy on a saturday

this week has been long for me. i feel the need to relax and yet i can't fully bring myself to doing it all the way. today i'm awating the USC versus Ohio State football game and then just chilling. so many times the brain tends to work overtime and yet it just stays on it's own course. life throws a curve ball here and there and yet it all will make sense is what they telling me. hurricane Ike didn't mess with my grandmother and Mother's home in Houston texas thank you Jesus. prayers and worrys all through the past couple of days were answered. weather and the power of the Universe go hand in hand it seems and yet you never know what awaits. tonight i want to sleep and yet I know I might be thinking of something. always got thoughts and alot of them need to be enlighten because right about now things ain't exactly going my way, but at the end of the day I'm thankful and Bless. all in a sleepy saturday of uncertainity.

Kayne West and the camera man issue

you know prayers to Kayne West after losing his mother last year and what have you, but this latestest episode with the camera man is just another example of him being out of touch. yeah the camera folks gotta give you your privacy, but you are also in a business where you know they are gonna bum rush you and be all in your grill. what you gonna do? the trade off is simple give them there shine and they will be cool. don't bring un-wanted attention on yourself. i tripped off of this because this sounds like the kind of mess that seems to follow him around and it doesn't have to be that way. i want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but i also know how much he tends to plaster his face toward any and every kind of attention. so something tells me this won't be the last time we are gonna here this and something also tells me that when Kayne gets it together he is gonna be looking for cameras to get that attention. it is a two way street.

prayers in Houston as Hurricane Ike is coming

real soon my aunt and uncle and myself are going to Houston Texas so i can see my Grandmother and mother. in the meantime Houston, is dealing with hurricane Ike and it threatens to be as worse as Hurricane Rita which did much damage to my grandmother's home and impacted my family's way of living for a while. hopefully this time it won't be so bad. i want to send prayers to all the people of the Texas area and what have you effected by this storm and other disasters that are seemingly forthcoming. in times like these prayer and clear thinking are much needed. i talked to my family there this morning and they appear to be going elsewhere for the night and are prepared for this storm unlike the past one and really are you ever fully ready to deal with the impact of something so powerful and life changing? i believe things will get better when it is all said and done.

remember 9-11-01

i want to send prayers and blessings to all the familys and friends who lost loved ones and what have you back in 2001 during the invasion that meant the loss of so many lives. it was a painful and scary time and it still is as our troops are fighting and trying to get back home. flags raised and hearts heavy in the tragedys and lost lives that occured here 8 years ago. our Nation and the whole world have to come together and protect what is our freedom and rights to live,etc.. i want to send prayers to all the familys who dealt with that tragedy then, still are dealing with it and will always feel that pain. i believe it is something that we as a Nation must say that will never happen again and that it is a our situation and not just something that happen there or whatnot. it impacts and effects us all. god bless all who are still trying to put the pieces of life back together. a strong soulful salute to our troops.

Obama and Mccain throwdown tonight

well the presidental debates kick off tonight and it is about the two men and nothing else. VP canidate and Her daughter being Pregnant and anything else shouldn't be the subject it is all about the state and issues. hopefully tonight we get a blue-print and outline of what is going on and happening and that is the most essential and important thing. debates are set up for people to ask and to see where voters and thinkers are leaning toward and which direction they are headed in. CNN and all news spots are looking forward and are geared up to set this throwdown in motion. it's only now a couple of months away from happening and we now know where we are going with it. so lets hope that the issues of the day are gonna be dealt with and lets keep the mud-slinging outside where it belongs. tonight is the start of the United State's tommorow.

September is Earth,wind and Fire Month

love the Elements and always will especially for the back in the day feel good hybrid vibe of music making they did. Maurice White is the Band's leader and his Brother Verdine is on bass. Philip Bailey with the trademark Fallsetto and strong vocals overall is incredible as well. i do prefer the 74-79 era when between there "Open our eyes" through "I Am" albums they were in there Prime and peak. also a shout out to the late Great producer Charles Stephney. incredible arrangements and rhythm. Earth,Wind and Fire always made me feel good and alive. that is what music is suppose to do for the soul. ain't nothing like hearing "september" blasting out on the first part of this month. there horns are top notch as well. I miss he days when Larry Dunn and Al Mckay were in the mix there. but I dig the Elements and have a long list of songs that will always stay deep with me. "that's the way of the World" is there anthem. they made feel good uplift music and that is always something needed and wanted by me.

it's great to see tv covering Cancer

all this weekend on CBS they are covering the issue of Cancer and it's impact and effects.
there are so many different types and forms of it and how it comes into the body and what
happens and it's impact on the individual and of course family and friends. it is not a pretty picture and it has so many ways of eating at a person. hopefully in time there will be a cure and
hopefully it can be treated as such to give people back a regular life. seeing it and the impact first hand is quite powerful and sad. so many emotions all at once and what it all implies. i lost my Grandfather to it over 25 years ago and the pain he went through stayed in my mind. you never forget the suffering and the Pain, but you always hope that there is a better day down the road. i think it is very important for it to be discussed and dealt with greater importance. it affects all lives, backgrounds,etc...

back to school

well cue up the cheese bus because it is that time of the year offically where i live.
it is that scent in the air that says aloud that the season has changed and what was
on a few months back, is now back to normal. the last weekend to get school supplys,
clothes and other important items that say welcome back to the School house.
in truth as soon as kids go home for the summer, than the ads start up and the big
count down starts up and rather sooner than you expect. oh it is a memory that never
leaves you. even as a parent and all of these years later, the feeling and vibe in the air
still says it is that time of the year, but i'm glad I'm not the one at the bus stop waiting
on the Cheese Bus to pick me up. oh the days when the cheese bus might leave you
behind and you had to hall or be left behind. back in the day as is the case now everybody wants to know what you did, what did you see and what did you get? the rules of the first day back
haven't changed all that much.

when the trees grow

a small piece is added to the branch

how it develops and grows depends on

the water and seasoning of nature and light

it is allowed, then the fullness and depth

is created through a tone of water

and peace that sheds sunshine all upon it

when the tree is ready to find it's own path

which direction will it go in and what will become

of the Protective Branch it came from?

what fruit is selected from that tree and is it good

for you or is it something to avoid?

the tree is a reflection of the very grounds

we touch on the land

and where shall that root firmly

be planted as the Grass grows??

Jerry Lewis MD telethon a yearly event

for me Labor day doesn't even start or become offical unless I'm watching Jerry Lewis's Muscular Distrophy telethon. the money raised helps so many kids. I remember as a Kid going to the local 7/11 and putting coins or money into a big can. i know what his show has meant to so many kids and there parents and relatives in general. it is a powerful show that shows and creates alot of hope for the future. a very important show that should be viewed or i feel a donation is always needed. this show touches and impacts so many lives. this show has made such a difference for so many all over the country and beyond. there is a direct MD.org site if you are interested in making a direct pledge. i also enjoy the entertainment that is on the show and Ed Mcmahon is also the MC of the show. a show that makes you aware. it is a show that shows true unity.
