Bus Ride in the Light

Never had a Second thought
never thought twice about my coin
being taken never thought twice
about where i was gonna sit,
never thought who was on the bus
all i know it was a warm sunny early
morning and people were talking
never envisoned having to move
here or there because my skin
was considered a sin
never cared to hear what anyone was saying
one way or the other as the driver
viewed me through there mirror
all i thought of was going to work
never thought that one civil rights bill
was passed for me to sit where i wanted
and as i entered another place
where another civil rights bill was
passed that allowed me to be
there a Ride in the day
sheds so much
