Hip-Hop Vs America
well B.E.T over the past couple of nights had a forum discussion about Hip-Hop and how it plays in America, Racially, Sexually and everywhere else in between. for me Hip-Hop has been a Great creative outlet and also presented alot of successful storys and also been important for jobs and economic growth, on the other hand it's gotten more Corperate and more White-Bread over time. sold as product and Product placement as to where a Rapper just allows themselves to state whatever they deem worthy and prepare to attack that subject matter. Hip-Hop is over 30 years old but the degree of the changes in the game over time are quite vast and still it is scary to alot of White America and parts of Black America. the Irony is that more White Males buy Hip-Hop Product on a whole. on these shows alot of discussions and thoughts on the Video Portrayals, alot of Bling being shown, and how the game doesn't show all sides Hip-Hop. you have many types of creative artists in the game, but the Big Suits only want to Pimp and allow a certain image. there isn't a balance being displayed and the fantasy that is created can never be fully fullfilled no matter how much Money or Viagra tablets are on a table. no other form of music or culture of People are lumped and tied into the same bag when people want to blame the social ills of what is happening. still it makes a Great topic and debate and good to see people talking. interesting thing about this particular show on B.E.T is that BET is co owned by Viacom which is Owned by MTV and they control everything you see, hear and view or so it seems. interesting deck of cards being played.
