Roots the Mini series 30 years

hard to beleive it's been 30 years since Alex Hailey's triumph Story Roots hit the airwaves. over a 130 Million Americans Watched the Mini series that truly made people talk about the Racial Enviroment around the Country. Roots talked about Africans being brought over here to America. it dealt with descrimination, it dealt with Black People being Sold as Slaves&used as Property. a TV Special that truly changed my life. I bought the Vhs tapes, then I got the DVD, Book&just felt the importance of watching this Picture. thanks to My Grandparents for making me watch how important this Film was because it dealt with so much that still needs to be dealt with&said. over 400 plus Years in America&Black History isn't taught in full in Schools. Alex Hailey though inspired quite a few folks to trace there Ancestory. but this Picture made you think, feel Emotion&Question why so much happen to a Race of People who never asked to be over here,but have made America that much stronger over time. it seems just like Yesterday we heard about Kunte Kinte. ask yourself have you learned more since or is it time to watch what Roots was all about again?

seeing the moving footage of Rats invading the KFC/Taco bell at a New York city Resteraunt was just sick. the trip out thing is that the Resteraunt had just been inspected&given a passing mark. the Rats were all over this place. they were having a field day on the floors&all over the place. the importance of checking everything out is so important. this is a Heck of a way to be greeted where it is all captured for all to see. how does a place of Business protect itself from such a invasion as this?

award shows in Hollywood are fairly a buddy,buddy system in that there are hardly any surprises. it's not always the best actor or actress or film or director for that matter that wins. like anything that revolves around nominating anybody it's all a popularity contest&what somebody wore or who was with somebody is the most talked about thing around the water cooler, chat-room or at somebody's crib. so yes the Oscars bring in alot of viewership,but does it mean what they are presenting is worth staying awake for? all those Hours of what? to me your Oscar is your Fans are still paying to go see your work year in&year out. winning the Oscar is good for the person,but it doesn't mean people will still care about your career, can we name all the actors and Actress's who have won&now are Milk carton worthy at best now as we speak? die-hard Oscar fans aside, most people talk about the clothes or pick up on a vibe as to actually remember who has won. personally when it comes to the Oscars I'm not impressed especially when you consider how slow they have been about acknowledging Black People in film when it comes to handing out the Awards. there Progress is weak.

I nearly fell out of my chair because I thought it was a April fool's day joke,problem was it was mentioned this past week in febuary. talk about seeing things that make you feel that your eyes are Cross-Eyed? Jennifer Lopez has had a Successful career as a Fly Girl on the show "Living Color", then in the Movies&then Music. but she ain't much of a Singer.for most of the Fellas Jennifer's Lopez career mainly started&ended from her Behind. I mean on the real that is what she really had going for her. I don't like to break somebody down to a Body part,but lets be real, She ain't gonna make you forget Gladys Knight or any real Singer. so hearing that Jennifer Lopez will be a guest Judge on a show about singing had me thinking that what is next Don King at the Local Barbershop telling Cats if they need a Haircut or not? i mean Jennifer Lopez is one of the Worst Singers that I have Ever heard. I watched Wednesday Night as CNN did a Special show on Hip-Hop. Paula Zhan was the host of the show who i felt was trying to channel Bill O'reily. the show was so obviously Biased to blame Hip-Hop for all of the Social ills in society it was so wrong. now Hip-Hop has it's issues with balance on subject matter&also not addressing various elements of life. no matter what label you go by in Hip-Hop you have a Obligation to be a bit more to the point on what you are presenting. now in the bigger picture CNN is a Corperate White Media Outlet that right during near the end of Black History Month airs a show that asks the Question is Hip-Hop Art or Poison? I mean how more loaded can you get? the detractors like to say that Crime, Homophbia, Sexism,Materialism,etc... are what Hip-Hop has brought&what has hurt society,but all of those issues were long ago here before Hip-Hop was even thought of. the truth of the matter is that while the Artist should be held accountable the people that truly call the shots on what gets played,heard&Seen are White People. maybe a handful of Black people are involved at best, but the people who run these labels have stocks&Bonds in them are seriosu stock holders. thank goodness for Michael Eric Dyson&some other Black Folks that balanced the show out because Paula Zhan just seemed to be reading off cue-Cards&the obvious Bias attitude was getting on my nerves. I usually expect shows that talk about topics or something that is heavily African-American Influenced to get a negative spin by the White Media&these type of networks&shows. the idea of bringing a show to the airwaves was interesting. but how can you debate a form of Music as Art or Poison¬ come across Racist? i like good debates,but not ones that have loaded overtones that have no balance. you can't call a Art Form destructive when you have a country in War. always a way out to take away from the real issue at hand.

I enjoyed the Race Saturday night during NBA All-Star Weekend. Barkley&Bavetta both agreed to run against each other inside the Basketball court. Barkley is 44&Bavetta is 67&there was some trash talking going on,but it was all in good fun. the Race was for charity as well. in truth the Race between Barkley&Bevetta was far more Entertaining that the Whole All-Star game which bored me. Charles Barkley is the Most Happening person in the Sports media to me. His personality is a One of a Kind. you might not always agree with him&you might not even like Him,but you can never say that Charles isn't entertaining&keeps you talking. he is One of the few people in the Media who just states how he feels on subject matters. Nascar has alot of drama&at times rivals Wrestlings the WWF. alot of Loud talk, hands flying, Attitude&Ego. funny thing because Nascar is so huge&this was a big deal it will blow over&folks will move on. Nascar is as big as Other Pro Sports in terms loyality with Fans,but it still has a Good Ole Boy Network feel despite some modern days Progressions. but the reaction to a driver&His Crew being busted with a Foreign Substance in there car isn't gonna garner the same reaction as if this was a Athlete from Baseball, footBall or Basketball. at the end of the day nothing surprises me,but when the announcer says Start your engines you don't know what is going on within.

Milli Vannilli got busted for Lip-Synching&had there Grammy for best new Artist taken away from them after they sold a ton of singles World-Wide along with selling 11 Million Copies of there Albums.they even had a commerical to mock what had happen. now folks came down hard on them for what they did&yes they have that coming to them,but to not blame the Record Company Arista Records&there part on this Whammy isn't right either. last I checked there was never any discounts or refunds for a Milli Vanilli Album,Tape or CD bought back in the day. so I look forward to how the Film goes down&how everything is worded&stated. the Music Industry has always had Acts like Milli Vanilli which were sold on there Imagery with crafty accessible songs past&present. there will always be a Act that gets the budget to sell themselves as to there actual talent. but I wonder will the Film hold all partys accountable or will it make Milli Vanilli look they did it all themselves??

Hardaway knows that at one some point&time that he has played with a Gay Player&Against Gay Players. who is He Kidding? but that kind of Machismo that is past as ManHood is how alot of Guys in the NBA more than likely would have said if there comments didn't come with any reprecussions as it happen to Tim Hardaway.you always have to know your audience&know when to be cool. you are entitled to your opinion,but you also gotta watch how you word things. Hardaway said he Hated Gay People which was a strong choice of words. congradulations to Ludacris for winning a Grammy for best rap album. I've purchased his stuff over the years. but that tacky shout out to Oprah Winfrey&Bill Oreilly was just corny&lame. Bill O'reilly is a Hack who I can't stand,but He takes it upon himself to talk about Black Artists. of course I think he is a Bigot&a tired hack. but when Luda goes after Oprah Winfrey that is just wrong&tired. why is Ludacris so steady on Oprah? I mean if Oprah doesn't want you on her show or find you interesting then let it go. I think it is tacky&classless to harp on something that doesn't need to be brought up. who cares about your personal beefs on a Grammy show? it's truly lame when somebody wins something&then they resort to a Cheap shot which has no place or business being put out like that. Ludacris has talent&is going toward the film game in Hollywood along with running his Disturbing tha Peace music label. Cleaning up on a Sunday

something is so cool about doing Cleaning up on a Sunday. it feels so good to just hear some music while cleaning&throwing things out. something about cleaning feels spritually uplifting. I managed to find things I hadn't seen in a decade&then just find a little plastic bag&then just toss things out left&right. i call it a early Spring cleaning,but this is a Winter Cleaning. i think when it becomes a new year that you have to make changes. I believe in bringing in new energy&that is part of taken stuff that you no longer need or use&then bringing in something that can help your household enviroment out to the fullest or at least present some much needed space.

15 years ago Earvin Magic Johnson made magic

the All Star Game in orlando florida back in 1992 during this weekend was Magical. Magic Won the MVp that day scoring 25 points,but more importantly a few months after retiring from playing Basketball after announcing that he was HIV Positive, he came back to the court One More time to remind everybody that He was truly Magic. that is probably the Best&Last All Star Game that I have truly cared about on so many levels. most of the NBA All Star Games are so corperate&tired that I forget them as soon as they end,but that game 15 years ago is always timeless&memorable to me. Magic Along with Shaq are my two All time Favorite Players&also the Two Greatest Players that I hold in high regard. Earvin "Magic" Johnson is a Winner on&off the court&that game back in 1992 He truly shinned even Brighter.

have you ever been at work&just wished that you could either be on Wellfare or just come into a whole lot of Money¬ ever have to hear that Mouth again? we have all been there. we have all had those days&weeks where a Boss standing over you or in front of you just seems to go on&on&never lets up. everybody works hard at there jobs&the last thing they want to hear is a whole lot of lip. I'm sure we have all been there where it was like why do I have to hear this mess at this point? we all have that wish of landing a whole bunch of money with enough to live on&just not putting up with the mess because Some Ego insensitive Bosses don't know how to treat or Respect there workers.

well it's Grammy time again

well it's time for the Grammys again&aside from hearing that Smokey Robinson&Lionel Richie are gonna Perform together as a tribute to past great R&B Acts&Maybe the James Brown Tribute then I'm not really expecting much from this show. the Gospel part of the show has always been my favorite segement of this show,but the Grammys are so stuffy, played out&so predictable it's not even funny.in truth I haven't cared about the show in I don't know how long. I mean there Racist Ways toward Rap Music then R&b Music over the years didn't help matters with me. also the fact that Milli Vanneli Won a Grammy from them speaks volumes. there have been artists,Groups that I have dug over the years that have won,but on a whole I think this show like the American Music Award show needs to bite the dust like now. the shows just don't carry no weight for me. aside from a few things they tend to leave a Sour Note in my mind.

She was only 39 years old. in a way with all things going on in her life I sadly gotta say I saw this coming. she has had so much drama coming at her non-stop. She lost Her 20 year old son after just given birth to a baby a couple of months ago. now Anna Nicole Smith in a minor way was channeling Marylnn Monroe.imagery mainly. back in the day I had a crush on Anna Nicole Smith. I dug her when she was thicker. she got too skinny to me. now on the real it was all about the Sex Appeal because she couldn't act&didn't have no real talent to speak of,but she had appeal that always got my eye-balls into maximum overdrive. the death of Her Rich Husband&going to Washington DC to the High courts to get her rightful amount paid to her. she was a Playboy Model&she had alot of things going on.she always stayed in the news& i expect the Media to Run Wild with her Story&the Tabloids will lose there minds about her. but she dealt with alot of things. to most folks she was a Blonde Bimbo who had 15 minutes of fame&a extra 12-14 more than she deserved to some. David Stern the NBA Commiss knows what is up within the game as do the Players,but everything ain't gonna be all about how good you are because there are people with alot of hangups. as in any Job Workforce enviroment there are Straight,Gay folks and what anybody selects to have as there Partner should be there Personal Business,but the Society isn't that accepting&that is a Reminder.it will be interesting how the Book does.I wonder how some people would react if there Favorite or some of there all-time players were Gay? now that would be interesting. on the real that is a Reality that alot of people never want to have to confront.forget all the Politically Correct talk, that is how the reaction would be, along pause.

word is that there is talk of Italian Soccer games maybe being played in empty stadium's because the fans can't seem to behave.i watched some of the games&highlights No matter how bad some of the fans stateside are, nothing is touching that mess that is happening from the fans in the stands to what is thrown&done on the field to the players. talk about needing a crack down? attitudes at these games ain't all about what is on going on within the game. some folks are just there to be out of control&it shows. Soccer is a great sport&it deserves it's chance to shine,but people have to remember that what is displayed hurts the game with viewers elsewhere who are turned off by all the un-necessary antics that take away from a very competitive battle on the field.

do you ever find yourself going back on a book you read some time ago&then find yourself going over a part that you felt you missed? you might stumble over a particular phrase or part that somehow escaped your sight the first time around. different events can lead you back to a particular read again. that is why I never throw or give away any of my books because I just have to go back on them. now i can recall where i was when i bought certain books or traced them down. so there are parts that i venture to repeat to myself&then put all things into perspective.so going back where you left that Bookmark or that piece of paper upon reading there is a new part to read that you may have forgotten.

though I was rooting for Chicago I gotta give Tony Dungy Dap for being the First Black Coach to win a Super Bowl Title. He earned it. He put Tampa Bay in place to win there title a few years back. also Congradulations to Payton Manning who Won&got the Monkey off his back. I can't stand the colts,but I respect what they did in order to win&they got better in the post-season where it counts the most. so you gotta tip your caps to what they accomplished. now I can't wait until next year. Lovie smith did a great job with Chicago&has no reason to feel bad because He accomplished a whole lot as well. this was a Ground-Breaking day. very Historic in football.

well it's Super Bowl Sunday

who do I pick for this game? well I'm a AFC Man,but soemthing about Chicago speaks to me. i think they have the best Defense of the two along with special teams. Indy is picked as the favorite to win. Payton Manning is highly respected as a Quaterback&whatnot,but there is something about Chicago that I'm feeling. i think this game is gonna be wilder than alot of People will think. I think the Chicago Bears aren't getting there due. neither one are my teams&I'm glad to see two Black Men Coaching in the biggest Game&Feel that is a Event onto itself,but if I had to pick out of the two then I'd be feeling Chicago.enjoy the game load up on all the goodies&lets hope it'sa good game.should be interesting.

it's a trip how high Domestic violence goes up on Super Bowl sunday. nobody should be putting there hands on anybody period,but why dos super Bowl Sunday bring out all the maddness? it's not just about somebody's team winning or losing in the big game,but it's also the alcahol&other beverages that often dictate the way attitudes go. why all the maddness? I have neighbors who go off during the regular season and I don't want to imagine what it would be like if there team was in the big game? might see a Tv go air-bourne if they lose or if there was a bad call. so nobody should use one day as a excuse to act a fool. enjoy the day,but don't cause no harm.

well it's almost sunday&have you gotten all of your Super Sunday snacks yet? always thinking of what will work with this combination or that combination. sometimes the Super Bowl Sunday Snack is even more important than the full course meal that you will eat later. every Year around this time of the year it's about getting what I want to have as comfort snack food for the early through mid part of the day. lots of chips&Dip. plenty of drinks&everything else in between. once in a while I turn on the Food channel or just rewind my mind back to past Super Sundays for creative food ideas. it's always fun&feels just like a Holiday. enjoy your Super Sunday&I hope you have pletny of 2nds,3rds,4ths&5ths.

in alot of ways they turn out to be even as memorable&in some cases even more memorable than the actual game itself.the cost of a Commerical for the Super Bowl is 2.6 million this year. it's very expensive to get a commerical used during the Super Bowl,but it's worth the cost especially if the ad catches on. Mean Joe Greene's Coke Commerical where he tosses his jersey to a Kid is still a classic. there are other Commericals during Super Sunday that have lasted. you never forget them. only a couple of more days until we see what is coming on the Airwaves.

Black History Month starts today

it is Febuary&this marks another day of the start of Black History Month which I celebrate 24/7 365 days a year period. Black History Month is always important to acknowledge because so Many Black People from the Past paved the way for Black People of Today&also created more options&chances for the future. in all walks of Life Black People have lead the way. don't let the Media just show you Entertainment,Sports&Music there is a History of strong Black Educators, Doctors, Nurses, Scientiests,&Other Professions which are often ignored when talking about the Black Expereince in America. there is so much more that is still yet discussed&explored. this is a powerful Month&it's very Important to understand&learn about the Black Experience in America. Black History Month is American History that always needs to be taught all year long period. the School Systems need to tell the truth&also tell the importance of the Many contributions that Black People have made to this Society.
