Happy New year&end reflections of 06

first&foremost happy New year. 2006 was something else. we Lost so many Great People this past year. we still are at War in Iraq with no ending in sight. but there is so many wonderful things to be blessed for. it's always interesting at the end of a Calendar year how you reflect&look back on the past 12 months. did you accomplish all of your goals? also as the years past by how often do you reflect to the past? what was the lasting impression of this past year? did you feel that you were getting any closer to your family members? did you feel any closer to your Friends? so what did this Year make you see or feel that you hadn't noticed before? every year is the Year of the unexpected so what will 2007 bring? who knows but lets enjoy the time.

Saddam is Dead,but what does that mean again?

Saddam Hussein was Executed last nigth& what does it mean in the bigger picture? I mean it ain't like troops can pull out of iraq. one would think that since a Dictator got taken down&the People are free of the Ruler that most or all the Problems are solved right? well Wrong. President George Bush has used this as a way to take down Saddam,but Bin Liden is still out here making videos like He is trying to get on BET, VH1 or MTV in regular rotation. where are the Weapons of Mass destruction at anyway? had this take down of Saddam happen 15 years back then it would have been interesting,but now it seems like a side show to take away from all the Body bags of our troops that aren't coming back alive. don't get me wrong Saddam had to pay for all of his ill actions,but the timing of this matter doesn't begin to answer any questions on the freedom of our troops who are still fighting a War that has lasted almost two decades now. when will it end?

RIP James Brown

hearing the News on Christmas Morning was as if Hearing that a Famiyl Member had passed. James Brown had that kind of impact&effect on myself&my family. Ground-Breaking Innovative,Original Soul Brother. without James Brown there is no Funk Music, there is no Rap Music&a large chunk of R&B Music would be lost. but the Man was also a Strogn Black Man for the Cause. back in 1968 the night that Dr.Martin Luther King Jr was Killed, James Brown on stage in Boston Mass brought Peace&calm to the stage. James Brown always did things his own way. the 4/4 beat in Music has to have his face on it. He was the Hardest working Man in Showbusiness,but More importantly He was a Man who showed that if given a chance you can do whatever&the Possibilitys are endless. on the Stage James Brown never cheated you. so Many careers have been made off of his music, his stylings. to me He is One of the 5 Most Influential Artists Ever. from head to toe people took things off this Man. He was Something Else. RIP SUPER BAD SOUL BROTHER Number 1#. His Songs made you feel so many emotions.

Gilbert Arena's had 60 points at Staples in LA.Gilbert plays for the Washington Wizards&His team went up against the LA Lakers. Kobe ended up with 45 points. but He questioned Gilbert Arena's Shooting selction&Said He shot the ball way too much. I was laughing so hard. because this is the same Kobe Bryant who While One of the NBA's Greatest Players Ever, also is known as a Ball-Hog along with putting up 81 points in a game with only two assits. Kobe Bryant of all people should talk. the Man ain't met a Shot He wouldn't take. I Bet Kobe Bryant has alot of Traffic Tickets because even on a Red Light He probably sees Green. Kobe is trying to play the team game&it's a about time. had he played in his lane¬ Ran Shaq Out of LA then things might have been different.Kobe speaking on another Shooter Shooting too much is like a Crack Head telling another Junkie that it's not good to use a Needle.

charges Dropped in the Duke Case

The Rape Charges against the Duke Lacrosse Players were dropped. that pretty much means the case is dead. it gets worse&worse as the Prosecutor just doesn't have a real case with any real evidence. nobody wins no matter how the case turns out because it leaves a lasting smear on all partys involved. who is to say what will happen next,but it has gone on for so long&somehow so many twists&turns have happen in this case,but nothing that has pointed to any real hard evidence.

the Brawl the other night was mentioned by every sports cast in the Nation&rightfully so,but at the same time everytime there is a Fight in the NBA it makes headlines,but in Hockey&Baseball as New York Knicks Guard Steve Francis mentioned there is a Double Standard at how the Media goes about covering the story. the Preception about the NBA is that the Majority of the Players who are Black are that they are Thugs from the Hood,etc...and with the corperate Structuring that David Stern has set up leaves a lasting impression.the game was Sold a long time ago to maintain a certain image.Race plays a part in everything that happens in the Country&the NBA is a Big time market that sells. there is a Rush to Judgement. anybody who denies the Racial elements isn't living in a Reality. not saying that the Players shouldn't have gotten Suspended,but the way everything gets blown up shows how quick there is a Rush to Judgement when there are Majority Black Players.

saturday night at MSG in New York the Denver Nuggets&New York Knicks played in a game where the Nuggets blew out the Knicks,but the Fighting that went down with little over a minute left is what is most remembered. Carmello Anthony who threw a Punch got 15 games. that is about 5 more than I thought he was gonna get. other players got suspended from both teams. but to me the real Bandit in this mess is New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas. Thomas is One of the Greatest Basketball Players Ever. I will always respect his toughness as a Player,but as a Coach he leaves alot to be desired. trying to still use Bully tactics as a Coach ain't cool at all. the Knicks Stink&alot of that is because of Isiah Thomas's doing. He has the nerve to say that the Knicks had surrendered&that because Denver was up by 19 points with slightly over a Minute to go in the game that the nuggets should sit down there Starters.that Statement alone is Ego gone wild.how is he gonna tell another Coach when to sit his players? the thing is simple though:Denver Nuggets coach George Karl is good friends with former Knicks coach Larry Brown whom Isiah Thomas Fired.there is a sense of get back going on between Thomas&Karl. it seems nobody has learned anything from what happen in Detriot two years ago around this time when the Detriot Pistons&Indiana Pacers when the Fight Broke out there. the NBA has turned some folks off.

December 14nth 2006 a Basketball game in New Orleans between the New Orleans Hornets versus the San Antonio Spurs returns to the Big Easy,but more importantly TNT along with Kenny Smith&Charles Barkley are taking viewers on what is really happening in New Orleans a year&almost half later. it's powerful viewing when you see the communitys&the People trying to slowly piece things back. it's going to take a good 5-10 years before the city is ever even half way back. Hurricane Katrina took alot from people,but it didn't take the spirit from the People who truly wanted to make a difference&a change. I applaud all the People making a difference with helping to re-build the city along with Donations,etc.. but when the camera stops rolling even more Hands are needed because we are only seeing one side of the story.the Goverment&Local State figures must do more to help&Aid the People of New Orleans. I'm glad to see the TNT NBA Crew going to New Orleans&showing how things are really going down from all parts of the City.

Props to Will Smith on his new Film

Will Smith's new movie is about Christopher Gardner who became a Self-Made Millionaire who overcame Poverty&Homelessness alng with taking care of his Son. the film is called "the Pursuit of Happiness" which is a strong film about a Black Man who is not only gonna overcome the obstacles he is facing,but also taking care of his son.He endures losing His wife, losing his apartment&then forced to live in Shelters,bus stations&even public bathrooms. Gardner got a chance meeting with a Power Broker who lead him to the offices which lead to a internship at a big time stock Brokerage firm.Gardner was very successful&today has Business of his own in New York,Chicago,&San Francisco. His Company is called "Gardner Rich&Company. it is a truly the American dream. overcoming obstacles,but more importantly it shows what can happen if given a chance you can achieve goals.also very importantly it shows that a Black Man can take care of his child. with all the negative stereotypes about the Black Man&His Child/Children this is a Powerful refreshing movie that will capture the Human expereince. Will Smith's Son Jaden does a Great job as Gardner's Son in the film. this is the kind of film that is needed especially within the Balck community. Will Smith needed a role like this because far often than not alot of his films were predictable&didn't require him to ever challenge himself aside from when he Portrayed Muhammad Ali in "Ali" and also his early 90's film "Six degress of Seperation". this is a step in the right direction for Will Smith.

you know if you turn on a channel&you see something from the past that you haven't seen in many years&it comes on then you have a Fred G. Sanford Moment because you can't believe you are seeing what you are seeing&hearing. that was my reaction tonight upon seeing Vintage Soul Train on the WB early this morning. Barry White performing with his love unlimited&Lola Filona. DOn Cornilious with the FRO, hearing the Orginal Theme that Gamble&Huff Wrote&Produced. hearing the introduction the SOULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TRAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is very important for the Younger Generation to view&watch. before there was 106&park, on BET this was the place to be. Soul Train was Our American Bandstand. if you wanted to see all the latest dance steps, clothes, hair styles&who was happening musically then you watched Soul Train. great to Hear Sid Mccoy introduce the show. Soul Train is from a era with only a few channels to turn. I always watched it every Saturday. the Soul train Scramble board was the truth. the original 60 seconds.it's was fun to go back in time. I still wish that Don Cornilious

the BCS Football poll came out today

my Michigan Woolverines got dropped to Number 3 in the Coaches Poll which means that Ohio State will play Florida for the national title on January 8th 2007. this just further shows that a Playoff system needs to be put into place in College Football. I don't find it fair at all. Michigan went to Ohio&Lost to Ohio State by 3 points. the game went down to the wire&I wonder why does Michigan have to pay for only one loss? I doubt seriously that any other team could have gone into Ohio&kept the game that close&also in light of losing former Great Michigan Coach Bo Schembechler(RIP) 24 hours before the game. aside from last year when Texas&USC battled for the national title, this year the voters didn't get it right. there has to be a playoff system. also I'm tired of these 99 different Bowl games that over half don't even count.cut back on alot of these Bowls&set up a format where the two Best teams battle it out for the National title.

Holiday shopping

when do you get into gear? is it during the thanksgiving Holiday Weekend or do you wait right before christmas? these days On-Line shopping solves so much. I mean over the past 5-6 years I ahve done more shopping through the Internet&also get more better deals. asking yourself do you want to stand in long lines or not? i'd rather get what I want to get or get at a good value&then check out. still there is something cool at times with other Humans at a Mall when it's busy just to feel the spirit of the Holidays. there is always something in the Air that says it's December during that time of the year.

this week read all about Britney Spears staying out late at night&also Captured without any Underwear on. then the Legal court Shows such as nancy Grace spend alot of time talking about Her Divorce from Husband Kevin Federline or aka K-Fed(which is his hmmmm Musical Stage Name). it's funny how Britney Spears is getting all of this attention. she is now a SingleMother of two Children at the age of 25 with Millions of Dollars,etc... now for me the biggest question is She will She ever matter again in Music? I've never been big on her,but do like a 2-3 songs of her's,but She has that appeal that is big for the Media.Britney is the Madonna of Her Generation period. has the Hit Career, with Marginal Talent at best, but has that charisma&persona that people care about. it will be interesting how things play out for Her,but one thing is for sure the Cameras are always flashing.&it seems alot of Media types have a take on Her.the old saying if they ain't talking about you, then they ain't thinking about you.

in New York this has been a big story. it is so sad because no matter what you are doing or what you are doing in America it always seems a Black Man is a Moving target. this incident in New Yook a couple of weeks back confirms this. Rev Al Sharpton lead a Protest&march behind this tragedy.the Police were undercover during this Shooting,but still it's sad how what should have been a Celebration turned into something sinister&again a strogn Racial element comes into view.

December is here&how has your year been?

hard to believe we are really in December this year has flown by like the Raod Runner was behind it or something, nevertheless how would you describe this past year for yourself? for me it had some Ups, some Downs, In betweens&the rest I just shake my head&keep on moving. you know every December it's always a reflection of what has gone down over the past 365 days, 52 weeks,etc... so this is where you have a New years plan&wait for the New years Ball to drop. every year it's time to reflect&wonder how it all went&also to acknowledge just how fast time truly flies.

power outtage&a snow Storm

this past week a reality came crashing down. the loss of Electricity which meant a Cold House,limited Food Supply&puttng alot of blankets on to just stay warm. I didn't see it coming, because the average amount of Snow didn't mentally or physically prepare me for the snow flow that was bound to happen.being in a enviroment where some places in your city has Power out in some places&the other places are functioning as close to normal. Winter hasn't even started yet.it's now December&nobody knows what shall happen weather wise,but this is a reminder of how season's change without changing.

World Aids Day

December 1rst is World Aids day&it means that it affects the Whole Wide World. yes Aids is running strongly through Africa,Europe&Other countries throughout the World, but in America it is as Strong as any other place&yet it's not getting the same response to it as it should. it's a serious issue that should demand the full knowledge&understanding from the Whole world. it's a Global Issue.I was glad to see Black Entertainment Television have a whole show dedicated to it. it's very important to educate yourself on HIV/AIDS.there is so much to learn&understand.
