Halloween Trick or Treat

it's the time of the year. the Ghosts&the Freaks come out at night. candy, Laughs, door knocks. always a fun time of the year. it's day that never gets old. you shouldn't stop doing it either. it's so much fun to go around the way&collect candy. I've had fun collecting&participating in it both as a child&also as a Parent. it's a whole lot of fun.bags of candy, door bells to ring, and other gadgets that you encounter along the path to getting treats.

Dikembe Mutombo was Racially harrased the other night

Houston Rocket Center Dikembe Mutombo was Racially harrased at a Pre-season game between the visting Rockets&the Home team of the Orlando Magic by a Man who called Mutobombo a Monkey&said other Racially negative things. it took Mutombo a back&He said the next time somebody says something of that nature again that he is gonna go into the stands&handle his business. I don't blame him. people can boo you&talk trash about you, but when they get racial, talk about your race, family&yoru being then they are going into a whole different teritory that isn't fun at all. it's fighting words. NBA CEO David Stern has 99 rules for the players, but doesn't speak on the Hostile attitude that has come over the years from the stands. now Mutombo said he was taken aback that somebody would say such words in 2006,I hope he wasn't surrprised, because I always expect something like this because Racism ain't never gonna go away. it happens everywhere&it's a reminder&a part of life 24/7 365 days a year period. Mutombo is a Classy Man who is from Africa&is highly Intelligent, but the realitys of America will always bring the truth to you even in the most unlikliest of places.

Day Light savings time

oh it's that time of the year again to roll the clock back, but when you get older the clock feels pretty ,much the same. no more sleep&still less sleep. I already set my clock a day ahead so I dont have to get up in the middle of the night to worry about it. it means it will get darker in the evening&the lightness of day will last longer, but I still don't know what it all means. day light savings time use to mean more to me in the spring time because that meant Summer was fast coming up. in the Fall that meant less sunlight&more cool air. mentally you just prepare for that i guess. but anyway it's here again&talk about a tale of two different time frames of mind? well I still look forward to spring the clock up when that means more sunlight, but then again I like to get that extra hour of relaxing.

RIP to Arnold "Red" Auerbach

One of the greatest coaches in any Profession passed today. Red Auerbach was 89 years old&He seems a hundred more years older than that when you think of his 9 NBA titles as a Coach which has him tied with Phil Jackson. Auerbach assembled those Boston Celtic teams of the 50's&60's that Dominated the NBA for years. He brought in Bill Russell which was a strong Social call in a time period in Boston when a Black Athelete wasn't gonna be met with open arms per se. Auerbach changed the whole game. He is One of the Mount Rushmore's of the coaching Profession. he was the coach, GM,VP,&a Trademark all unto himself just like the Boston Shamrock trademark on the old Boston Garden center court. He was wise, creative&believed in himself big time. he was truly one of a kind. when he won he would always light up a Ciagar. He was all about thinking ahead&that is why the Man was a Winner. RIP

Two Deaths in the World of sports today

Treavor Burbeck the Former World HeavyWeight Champion who was the last Man to Fight Muhammmad ali&was the the man that lost to Mike Tyson when Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion ever was killed over this weekend. don't know the full details. Burbeck had his issues over the years in&outside of the ring&is basically almost a forgotten Man. he was only 52. his death just like his Boxing career was a mystery because it's hard to say what anybody knew of him. he was good for a minute&then after the Tyson fight he was never the same. hard to believe it's been 20 years since that fight.

Arnold "Red" Auerbach died today at the age of 89. the Man who made Dynasty a part of the NBA Vocabulary. the man who introduced the 6th man to the NBA. the Man who Broke Racial lines in Boston. the Man who Brought Bill Russell on board as a Player&then later as a GM Auerbach brought in Larry Bird. Auerbach was from a different time&era of the NBA. He was a One Man show. as a Kid I thought He owned the Boston Celtics. he may as well have because he was the coach,GM,Talent Scout, Vice-President&almost every other title in between. he Won 9 World championship titles as head coach of the celtics. He is tied with Phil Jackson for the most Ever. Auerbach had his trademark "Ciagar" after every victory&even more so after winning titles. He left a trademark in the Old Boston Garden. Auerbach's flair was as much of a trademark as his will to getting the best out of his players as the 'Shamrock" on the Old Boston center floor. He was a trademark. One of the Mount Rushmore's of coaches in any Profession period. He was a Ground-Breaker. truly a Original. RIP to Both of these Men today.

NBA Season Starts Next Week

First&Foremost can't wait for Ring night next week in Miami. the Miami Heat won it all last year. it's gonna be great watching Ring night. Proud of SHAQ!! Proud of Dwyane Wade. Wade was incredible last year. Proud of Alonzo Morning, Gary Payton,&the whole Miami Heat Team. glad to see Pat Riley come back as well. this year will be interesting. Lebron James&the cleveland Cavs will be a threat. also in the East there is gonna Chicago with Ben Wallace now on board, also Detriot, New Jersey&maybe 1-2 two more teams.
out West the Western Champions&NBA Finals Runner ups Dallas Mavericks with Dirk Nowenski are looking to getting back to the show with Head coach Avery Johnson. the San Anotonio Spurs with Tim Duncan,Ginobli&Tony Parker along with Coach Greg Popivich will look to get back into the mix.Houston Rockets with Tracy Mcgrady&Yao Ming look to make some noise as does the Denver Nuggets with Carmello Anthony. the Phoenix Suns with League MVP Steve Nash&Possibly Amare Staudimare look to get back, as does the LA Lakers with Kobe Bryant. the LA clippers are looking to duplicate last year. keep a eye on the New orleans Hornets with Guard Chris Paul making some noise. keep a eye on the Sacremento Kings with Ron Artest. it should be a interesting year. this year marks the 60th year of the NBA. I don't like all the changes that David Stern has made as League Comiss, but oh well we will see how things turn out this year. stay tunned.

nice sleep

as i awake what do I see?
as I move what do I look to find?
as i have dreamed what was on my mind?
was the sleep taken me to a place of pure
joy&happiness? or was it a moment of
desperation to get out of a enviroment?
often there is a side of the bed to sleep on
ask if it is the right side, but never ask the
wrong, so the moment of sleep&travel go on
where does my mind, soul&spirit travel during
those moments? the general question how did you
sleep last night?

Time Magazine got to be out of there mind:Barack Obama

lets be real Barack Obama is a cool&Very Intelligent Cat,but ain't no way dude is ever gonna be elected to the White House. America is just too Racist for it's own good. He has to address this matter&be real. ask Collin Powell just 10 years back at the Replublican Convention how the same folks who applauded him as a national Hero, jeered him upon him telling the crowds his beliefs. that is the reality. I can't stand Time Magazine. it's the kind of Guilty White Liberalisim that trys to say something to just sell magazines, but on the real we all know the truth when it comes to Race&the reality of winning the nomination for President to the White House.using the headlines that this Man could be the next president¬ fully explaining the history of America where it comes to Politics in Black or white does a big time disservice especially in a country that hasn't ever united together as being together.Obama is a smart Guy&his life story is very up-lifting but 40 years ago it was guess who is coming to dinner? I don't see anyone ready to say guess who is coming the White House? too much negativity&the media of time magazine isn't being real about the reality.

Magic Johnson 15 years later

it's fast approaching November&How I remember hearing the news conference where Magic Johnson announced he had contracted HIV. it was the end of a Era in a Career that had made Him One of the Greatest basketball players ever. Magic for me along with Shaq are my all time two favorites. Magic had a way of spreading the ball around with assits. his cool on the court smile&attitude made him a Winner on the court, but now he was facing his biggest battle yet. fast forward 15 years later&Magic Johnson is bigger, but is healthy he has become a successful Businessman&basically Re-invented himself. he has dedicated himself to helping the African-American community with bringing Business Tie ins such as sony Theaters,Star Bucks coffee houses,etc.. to the Neighborhoods. Magic is a Winner on&off the court. he turned a Death sentence&re-discovered life&has made even more bigger passes. there are drugs to counter HIV which causes Aids than there was 15 years ago. still a ways to go,but Magic Johnson would not be defeated, but back then on a Thruday Night on November 7nth of 1991 it was a Sad dark day for me&several fans of Magic Johnson, but 15 years later we still that winning Smile of Ervin "Magic" Johnson's.his Family,Friends&Fans always will believe in Magic.

Anita Hill&Clarence Thomas 15 years later

hard to believe it's been 15 years already. the 90's had alot of big WOW! moments&this was the start of them all. Anita Hill is a Professor these days&is still a very striking Lady but this chapter in her life brought attention to so many things that weren't so pleasent. She said that she was the victim of Sexual harrasment from Clarence Thomas who would later be cleared of this&become a member of the Supreme Court. we heard about Long Dong Silver not to me mistaken for the Lone Ranger. we heard about Bodily things on coke a cola lid tops. it seems just like yesterday that this open forum of discussion was being televised all the time. Politics,Race,Sex&class all came into the Mix on this Chapter in American History. it seems so long ago now,but yet it feels just like yesterday&in so many ways we never got a final answer.no real conclusion.sadly we had a case of Black Man Versus a Black Woman which tied in to the media it left some dischord that still is felt to this day in some circles.

Play on my emotions

let the songs play as I remind myself
of happier times, but where that seems
like a distant past which was only yesterday
looking through a window with a moment to see
rain mixed with sun trying to tap together
in harmony, yet one shall stop, but a heart of
feelings never stops beating for that other
part of your soul who is out there finding
there own footing in a world that sometimes
lacks any real conection&yet those two souls
shall unite

The Telephone Rings

as the Phone Rings what do I say?
as I run to see who has called how do I respond?
as I glance at a chance to pick up the Phone what
will go through my mind&how will the words flow?
the cord line is free&my words are free
a flow of exchange comes over as moments of detail
are going through the lines&as if time were still every
word&meaning takes on a whole new vibe
how the electric system inspires so many emtions
that even two souls within breathing distance could never
compose upon face to face

Complextion

what is my color&what does it mean in america?
is it too Black for the faces of other tones
or is it too light from within the Home?
how does the world view a Man they don't even
know? how do people view skin&tone so easily
but never come forth with how they see a whole
being? all of the Unique richness that has
blessed a Human can often be downplayed
by a look that only sees a complextion
and not all the fullness of character

Detriot&St Louis in the World Series

well the World series is about to jump off now. the Favorite Detriot Tigers against the Underdog St.Louis Cardinals. both teams overcame so much to get here. the Detriot Tigers only three years back lost a 119 games. the St.Louis Cardinals have been underachievers. for me I'm sad because my New York Yankees aren't in the show&I was kinda hoping to see the New York Mets at the big dance, but injurys took away there starting pitcher&others. Detriot&St.Louis played against One another in a world Series Classic back in the late 1960's. this should be a interesting world Series. one thing is for sure, nobody saw these two teams battling it out for it all.

Sports thoughts

the Detriot Tigers who beat my New York Yankees&over the weekend swept the Oakland A's are in the world series for the first time since 1984. they are awaiting the National League winner out of the St.Louis Cardinals&the New York Mets. who ever wins they face Detriot.

watched Monday night Football& I don't blame Dennis Green at all. how the Arizona Cardinals Lost to the Chicago Bears is a Mystery. that was a wild game to say the least. Dennis Green spoke his mind&didn't back down.

Mike Tyson says he will Fight a woman in the ring. I always pull for Mike, but he has to know ain't no way in the world that him fighting a Woman in the Ring is gonna fly. Mike is trying to get some paper, but he knows ain't nobody gonna green light a fight against a Woman. maybe if he was fighting a Bear??

a Laugh to the Belly

the conversation with a friend who hits that spot
a moment that makes your mind&body feel so good
you know that ability to feel the smoothness
of a painful or uneasy moment where tears become
replaced by a rhythm that echos a celebration
that won't allow the blues to kick in
you know that laughter that makes your guts
clap together to your ribs like yo Mama's
Oatmeal on a cold Winter day?
that is Soul&that is a what a hard felt
bringing it to the real Laugh will do for
you

a day in the sky

upon the Moon I look over the sky
what shall i find&what will come down
as if a bird was a message teller&i wonder
where shall that bird touchdown
as i watch the mood in the sky change
i imagine where the pinpoint to determine
a day shall inspire the degrees&why a temperture
may feel one way or the other
if only we knew the sky how might be feel
down on the other side amongest fellow
humans on the surface

Tower Records:the end of a Era

hard to believe that Tower Records is so far into debt that it is gonna close all of there stores. hard to believe that it is over. if you are a Kid from a era on File-sharing,down-loading,etc.... then Tower Records may as well be talking about the Cosby show or Leave it to Beaver because it's a whole different time period when running&I didn't say walking, i said running to the Tower Records to get that new Album, tape,CD or read Music related magazines or Books along with other things related to Music. I always got excited about going to Tower, but these days with the Circuit citys,Best Buys, wallmart,Target stores selling discs cheaper,Tower just couldn't keep up. Tower had artists full catelogs.it's a shame that the consumer doesn't have a say to save a Tower Records.I will miss going there. I even did some business on the internet through them, still it ain't the same as physically walking into the store&buying or viewing product. the reality of the down-sizing of music stores&things is fast becoming a reality. can't compete with with discount stores selling music&other things plus songs being sold through I-tunes&other services also as Ring tones.

Miami&Florida Int in a College Brawl on the field

last night in Miami was unlike anything that I have ever seen, especially in a blow out game. fists, body slams&pletny of taunting were the roll call last night. Miami Hurricane players were on the sidelines raising there helmets in unison, cheering on as the Hurricane players on the field gave florida Int a beat down. I was wondering where was those same Hurricane players when they got there behinds beat twice this year. there wasn't none of this going on. you wonder where is the coach? I mean this is college football&a coach can't keep his team under control? eight Miami players got suspended, but the way things looked I'd say about 28-30 plus cats on the team might have deserved to have been suspended for there actions. that was wild last night.

Friday the 13nth are you Scared?

well Friday the 13nth is here&are you worried? you know there comes a time when you forget about things going bad&just don't pay attention to things that are suppose to go bad. I mean who says that thursday the 12th can't go bad for you? all you need is a Friday the 13nth to happen in October&then you turn the numbers around&you have October 31rst which equals Halloween. funny how that works out this time of the year huh?so many superstitions" as Stevie Wonder song about years ago,but there comes a time when you have to live each&every day&treat them all as a Lucky One.

Cory Lidle&the New York Yankees

RIP to Cory Lidle whose Plane Crashed today into a Building. it brought back memorys for me when New York Yankee Catcher Thurman Munson lost his life when his Jet crashed back in 1979. also this put so many other things into perspective with how the New York Yankees had been going since they were eliminated from the post-season over the weekend. it takes something of this magnitude to make you appreciate life&also understand just how short it truly is. my prayers go out to Cory Lidle's family&also the other lost lives in the crash. it shook up New York because it felt like another Attack, but this was a Plane crashing.

RIP to John"Buck" O'Neil

Buck O'Neil died over the weekend at the age of 94,but his impact on the Negro League&also to Major League Baseball is timeless. the Man touched so many lives. He gave a great speech at this year's Hall of Fame Introduction for Major League baseball which snubbed him again, which is a Shame. I mean all Negro League Players should be enshrined into Baseball's Hall of Fame as far as I'm Concerned. all American&Foreign Players should always acknowledge the Negro league Players&especially African-American Ball players. Buck O'Neil is a true Pioneer&trand-setter. He up-lifted so many souls&Sprits. he was a Great Man&true Ambassador.we are gonna miss his Soulful pressence, but we have a lifetime of a Man who truly made a Great impact on Professional sports&More important to Society at large. RIP.

baseball post season is here

it's that time of the year in baseball where the post season has started&my New York yankees start there journey for another championship against the Detriot Tigers. it's been six years since my yankees have won it all. in the other american league playoff match up the minnisota Twins go up against the Oakland A's. over in the national league it's the Los Angeless Dodgers against the New York Mets&the St.Louis Cardinals against the San Diego Padres. post season baseball is always that time of the year where heroes are made to come alive. legacys are enshrined. can't wait for the playoffs to get into full gear&hopefully this will be a great post-season for the New York Yankees.

Black&White in Baseball Bonds&Clemons

now over the weekend it was reported that along with 5 other players that Roger clemons of the Houston Astros was accused of using Performance enhancement drugs. Clemons a winner of 7 cy Young awards,Winner of a Couple World Series Rings&Arguably the Greatest Right Hand Pitcher. Barry Bonds 7 time MVP, 2nd All-time in Home runs, gold glove winner,etc... but the Media divides them on personality&also Racially. it's no seret that clemons is more of a Media favorite&that Bonds is not very well liked. now with the latest news of Roger Clemons being linked to Roids will he get the same treatment as Barry Bonds has gotten? I don't expect Clemons to catch half the hate that Bonds gets. I watch&listen to these Sports Journalists talk loaded about Bonds.I can read between the lines.it don't take rocket science to figure out what is being said down the middle.

Stomping on the Football field

i don't know what Albert Haynesworth was thinking or smoking, but dude was out of his mind. he Stomped his Feet at Dallas Cowboy's Offensive Lineman Andre Gurode's Bare head. Gurode had to get major stiches. Haynesworth is a Defensive Tackle who got a 5 game suspension&rightfully so. yes Pro Football is a Violent brutal game, but you don't need to do anything un-necessary to add fuel to the fire.Tennessee Titan's Head coach Jeff fisher apologized for the actions on the field. I have never seen anything like this in all of my years of watching Pro Football. the League has alot of issues, but nothing like this on the field.

October 1rst it has that feel in the Air

it doesn't feel like it's already October, but it is. going down the street&just glancing around my neighborhood you see all of the beautiful Orange&Yellow leaves that are scattered all along the sidewalk. there is something about October that brings those leaves into a colorful time of the year. not that I really get all into this time of the year, because I'm more of a Summer/Spring type of Cat,but there is something incredible to the eye sight of the smell&visual of this time of the year. one thing I don't miss is raking up leaves.don't miss getting 10 glad bags&watching the Leaves dropping left&right.
